Snack Time!


Snack upgrade! Anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I eat a piece of dark chocolate after every meal.  It’s something simple that satisfies my sweet tooth. Dark chocolate has a ton of antioxidants and is great in small amounts- I recommend >70% cacao for the best benefits!

The only negative is a few pieces of dark chocolate won’t keep you full for long. The best solution to this is to pair it with fruit and nuts for a snack upgrade. Sometimes we focus just on calories- many would say 120 calories of dark chocolate is better than 220 calories of dark chocolate paired with other items. However, if we are still hungry after consuming just the chocolate, we will likely reach for other unhealthy items, quickly racking up the calories.

I recommend choosing a complete snack like this pictured above. The fruit, such as blueberries is full of fiber, vitamins and minerals, while nuts, like cashews, offer protein and healthy fat. This combination of nutrients will keep you fuller longer! What’s your favorite flavor combo?
